Unkown Maker

This is an Ophicleide in Bb. Unfortunately there is no makers' mark to be found. The only marking I see is the number 218 on the rod for the 1st key. This also makes it nearly impossible to determine the date of manufacturing; this could span about a century, as the Ophicleide was invented in 1817 and was still in catalogues as late as 1912 (e.g. Couesnon), even though the instrument was nearly obsolete at that time.
The bocal was damaged and the pads worn out, so I had it repaired. After repairs, I tried playing it and it does indeed play!
